No. The prices are the ones shown on this website, the same for everyone: every lesson is £35 an hour.
Moving and cancelling
What is your cancellation policy?
You can move or cancel a lesson free of charge up to 48 hours before it starts. A lesson cancelled or moved with less than 48 hours notice is charged in full, unless it was something you could not help, such as sudden illness or an emergency.
How do I move or cancel a lesson?
Use the link in your booking confirmation email, or contact Murad on 07979 974479. Please give at least 48 hours notice.
What if I am ill on the day of my lesson?
Tell Murad as soon as you can on 07979 974479. Sudden illness is the kind of thing the late cancellation charge is not meant for.
What happens if Murad has to cancel?
If Murad has to cancel, you are offered another time or are not charged for that lesson.
What if I am not ready at the pick up time?
Please be ready at the pick up place at the start time. Lesson time runs from the booked start, and if Murad cannot reach you within 15 minutes the lesson may be charged in full.
What happens to the lesson if the weather is very bad?
Most weather is good practice. If Murad decides it is not safe to drive, for example in snow or ice, the lesson is moved at no charge.

Automatic lessons
Why learn in an automatic car?
With no clutch and no gears to manage, you can put more of your attention on the road: observation, planning and other traffic. There is no stalling, which takes pressure off at junctions, hill starts and in queues. Electric cars and most hybrids are automatic too.
Is learning automatic easier?
Many learners find automatic simpler because there is less to coordinate, but the test standard is exactly the same. You still need safe observation, judgement and control.
Will I need fewer lessons in an automatic?
Some people do, because there is less to learn, but everyone is different. Murad will give you an honest idea after your first lesson.
If I pass in an automatic, can I drive a manual car?
No. If you pass your test in an automatic car, your full licence lets you drive automatic cars only. A pass in a manual car lets you drive both.
Can I upgrade an automatic licence to manual later?
Yes. You take a practical test in a manual car. You do not need to take the theory test again to upgrade an automatic licence to manual.
Are electric cars automatic?
Electric cars do not have a manual gearbox, so they drive like automatics. If you pass in an automatic car you can drive electric cars.
Is the automatic driving test different?
No. The practical test is the same in an automatic or a manual car: the same examiner checks, manoeuvres and standard.
I have had manual lessons before. Can I switch to automatic?
Yes. Many people switch. Your earlier experience with steering, observation and road positioning still helps, and Murad will start from where you are.
Nervous learners and first lessons
I am very nervous about driving. Can you help?
Yes. Lessons are calm and go at your pace. Your first lesson can start on quieter roads, with clear explanations before anything new, and you never have to do something you do not feel ready for. Automatic cars also take away stalling, a common worry.
What happens on my first lesson?
Murad picks you up, checks your provisional licence and eyesight, explains the controls of the automatic car, and when you are ready you drive on quieter roads. You finish with a short recap and a plan for next time.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Your provisional driving licence, glasses or contact lenses if you need them to read a number plate from 20 metres, and comfortable shoes that let you feel the pedals.
What shoes should I wear for driving lessons?
Comfortable shoes with a thin, flexible sole work well. Avoid flip flops, very high heels and heavy boots.
Do I need any driving experience before my first lesson?
No. Many pupils have never driven before. Just bring your provisional licence.
How many lessons will I need?
There is no set number. DVSA says there is no minimum number of lessons, and it depends on how quickly you learn and how much you practise. Murad will give you an honest estimate once you have driven together.
Will my lessons follow a plan?
Yes. Each lesson has a clear goal, builds on the last one and ends with a recap and a plan for next time, working towards the standard you need for the test and beyond.
Do you teach older learners?
Yes. There is no upper age limit for learning to drive, and lessons go at your pace.
Can I have lessons if I have a disability or health condition?
Please ask Murad first so lessons can be planned around you. You must tell DVLA about some medical conditions that can affect driving, and some people may need an adapted car.
Intensive courses and blocks
Do you offer intensive driving courses?
Yes. An intensive course means lessons close together to work towards your test sooner. The hours depend on your experience, so it starts with a chat with Murad. The price is on request.
Is an intensive course right for me?
It can suit people with some experience, a deadline or plenty of free time. Complete beginners often do better with lessons spread over a few weeks so skills can settle. Murad will tell you honestly what fits.
Can you guarantee a test date with an intensive course?
No. You book your own practical test on GOV.UK, and DVSA rules say only the learner can book it. Plan your lessons around a test date you have booked or can realistically get.
Can you guarantee I will pass?
No honest instructor can guarantee a pass. Murad will help you reach the standard and tell you honestly when you are ready.
How does a block of 10 hours work?
You book and pay for 10 hours of automatic lessons ahead (£350), then use them as five 2 hour lessons at times that suit you.
Can I share a block of lessons with someone else?
Ask Murad. Lessons are one to one, so each hour in a block is for one learner.
Test day
Do you offer mock tests?
Yes. A mock test is practice under test conditions: a drive set out like the real test, then feedback on what to work on. Mock tests and focused test preparation are priced on request. Ask Murad on 07979 974479.
Can I use your car for my driving test?
Yes, you can ask to use the automatic tuition car for your test, usually with a warm up drive first. The price is on request. Check with Murad before you book your test date so the car is free.
What should I take to my practical test?
A car that meets the test rules (most people use their instructor's) and your UK driving licence. You only need your theory test certificate if you took your theory test in Northern Ireland. If you do not take the right things, the test is cancelled and you lose the fee.
Can my instructor sit in on my test?
Yes, you can ask for your instructor to sit in the back and listen to the test and the feedback. It is your choice.
What happens at the start of the practical test?
The examiner checks your licence, then you do the eyesight check: reading a number plate from 20 metres (20.5 metres for an old style plate). Then you get a 'tell me' vehicle safety question before you drive.
What if I fail the eyesight check on test day?
If you cannot read the number plate, you fail the test, the test does not go ahead and DVLA is told, which means your licence is revoked. Get your eyes checked well before the test.
Should I have a lesson before my test?
Most learners find a warm up drive before the test helps them settle. Ask Murad about a warm up drive with the test day car hire.
What if my test is cancelled because of bad weather?
DVSA may cancel tests in bad weather and will rebook. When DVSA changes your test, your allowance of changes resets to 2.
Provisional licence and starting out
How old do I need to be to start driving lessons?
You can apply for a provisional licence from 15 years and 9 months, and most people can start driving a car on the road at 17. Rules can differ for some disabled people, for example people who get the enhanced rate of the mobility part of PIP may start at 16.
How do I get a provisional driving licence?
Apply on GOV.UK. It costs £34 online or £43 by post with form D1. You need to be at least 15 years and 9 months old, meet the eyesight rule and have permission to live in Great Britain for at least 185 days. An online application usually arrives within a week.
Can I have lessons before my provisional licence arrives?
No. You need a valid provisional (or full) licence before you drive on the road.
What is the eyesight rule for driving?
You must be able to read a car number plate from 20 metres, with glasses or contact lenses if you need them, and meet the minimum eyesight standard (decimal 0.5, or 6/12 on the Snellen scale). If you need glasses to meet it, you must wear them every time you drive.
Do I need to pass my theory test before lessons?
No. You can start lessons before your theory test. You must pass the theory test before you can book the practical test.
Do I need L plates?
Yes, when you are learning, the car must show L plates on the front and back (D plates are an option in Wales). The tuition car already has them.
Can learners drive on the motorway?
In England, Scotland and Wales, learners can drive on the motorway only with an approved driving instructor in a car with dual controls. You cannot practise on the motorway with family or friends.
Is there a minimum number of lessons before the test?
No. DVSA says there is no minimum number of lessons. You should take the test when you can drive safely without any help.
Theory test
How much is the theory test?
The car theory test costs £23 and you book it on GOV.UK.
What is in the theory test?
Two parts on the same day: 50 multiple choice questions in 57 minutes, including 3 questions about a short driving video, then the hazard perception test with 14 video clips.
What is the theory test pass mark?
For a car you need 43 out of 50 in the multiple choice part and 44 out of 75 in hazard perception. You must pass both parts at the same sitting.
How does the hazard perception test work?
You watch 14 clips of everyday road scenes and click when you see a hazard developing. There are 15 developing hazards (one clip has two), each worth up to 5 points, and clicking constantly or in a pattern scores zero for that clip.
What do I take to the theory test?
Your UK photocard driving licence. If you do not take it, the test is cancelled and you lose the fee.
How long does a theory test pass last?
Your pass certificate number lasts 2 years. You need to pass your practical test within that time, or take the theory test again.
What if I fail the theory test?
You must wait at least 3 working days before you take it again, and you take both parts again.
How much notice do I need to change my theory test?
At least 3 full working days, or you have to pay again. Working days are Monday to Saturday, not Sundays or public holidays.
How should I revise for the theory test?
Use the official DVSA revision materials and the theory and hazard perception practice app, read the Highway Code, and practise hazard perception clips regularly. Your lessons will help too, as you see real hazards on the road.
Practical driving test
How do I book my practical driving test?
Book it yourself on GOV.UK once you have passed your theory test. You need your driving licence number and a debit or credit card. Since 12 May 2026 only the learner can book, change, cancel or swap a car test: instructors are not allowed to do it for you.
How much does the practical test cost?
£62 on weekdays, and £75 for evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
How many times can I change my driving test?
Since 31 March 2026 you can make 2 changes to a booking. Changing the date and the centre at the same time counts as one change, and swapping with another learner counts as a change. After 2 changes you must cancel and book again.
Can I move my test to any test centre?
Since 9 June 2026 you can only move a test to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it is booked, or back to the centre you first booked. So book at a centre you mean to use.
How much notice do I need to cancel my practical test for a refund?
At least 10 full working days. Monday to Saturday count as working days, but not Sundays or public holidays.
Can I use a cancellation finder app to get an earlier test?
No. DVSA does not allow unofficial services that scan the booking system, including cancellation finder sites and apps, and may suspend online access or cancel the booking. New tests are released on GOV.UK at 6am on Mondays, up to 24 weeks ahead.
How long is the practical driving test?
GOV.UK says you drive for around 35 minutes. Part of it is independent driving, following a sat nav or traffic signs.
What happens during the practical test?
An eyesight check, then 'show me, tell me' vehicle safety questions, general driving on different roads (not motorways), one reversing exercise, possibly an emergency stop, and a section of independent driving.
Which reversing manoeuvres can come up in the test?
The examiner asks you to do one of these: parallel park at the side of the road, park in a bay (driving in and reversing out, or reversing in and driving out), or pull up on the right, reverse about 2 car lengths and rejoin the traffic.
What is independent driving?
Part of the test where you drive without turn by turn directions from the examiner, following a sat nav that the examiner sets up, or traffic signs, or both. Going the wrong way is not a fault on its own.
How many driving faults can I get and still pass?
You pass with no more than 15 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.
What if I fail my practical test?
You can book another test, and pay again. The new test must be at least 10 working days away. Use the feedback to plan your next lessons with Murad.
Will I pass first time?
Nobody can promise that. What helps most is taking the test when you can drive safely without help, which Murad will tell you honestly.
Can a supervisor sit in with the examiner?
Sometimes a senior examiner sits in to check the examiner. They are not testing you. If you refuse, your test can be cancelled.
What do I need to book the practical test?
Your driving licence number, a credit or debit card, and your theory test pass. You must also have lived in England, Wales or Scotland for at least 185 days in the 12 months before the test.
Show me, tell me questions
What are show me, tell me questions?
Two vehicle safety questions on the practical test: a 'tell me' question at the start before you drive, and a 'show me' question while you are driving. Getting one or both wrong is a driving fault.
What are the show me questions?
While driving you may be asked to show how to: wash and clean the rear windscreen, wash and clean the front windscreen, switch on dipped headlights, set the rear demister, use the horn, demist the front windscreen, or open and close the side window.
What are some tell me questions?
Before you drive you may be asked to explain how to check things such as: that the brakes work, the tyre pressures, the head restraint position, tyre tread and condition, headlights and tail lights, indicators, brake lights, power steering, rear fog lights, main beam, the ABS warning, and engine oil, coolant and brake fluid levels.
How do I answer the tyre tread question?
Explain that there should be no cuts or bulges and at least 1.6mm of tread across the central three quarters of the tyre, all the way round.
How do I check the brakes before a journey?
Explain that the brakes should not feel spongy or slack. Test them as you set off: the car should not pull to one side.
Will you practise show me, tell me questions with me?
Yes. Murad goes through them in the tuition car so you know where everything is before your test.
Practice, insurance and after you pass
Can I practise with family or friends?
Yes, as long as your supervisor is over 21, qualified to drive the type of car you are learning in, and has held a full licence for 3 years. The car needs L plates and you must be insured. You cannot drive on the motorway with them.
Can my parent supervise me in an automatic if they have a manual licence?
Yes. A manual licence covers automatic cars, so a supervisor with a full manual licence who meets the other rules can supervise you in an automatic. Someone with an automatic only licence cannot supervise you in a manual.
Do I need insurance to practise in a family car?
Yes. In your own car you need learner insurance. In someone else's car you must be covered as a learner on their policy or have your own learner policy. Driving without insurance can lead to an unlimited fine, a ban and up to 8 penalty points.
Am I insured during lessons with you?
Yes. The tuition car is insured for driving lessons, so you do not need your own insurance for lessons in it.
What is the penalty for practising without proper supervision?
You can be fined up to £1,000 and get up to 6 penalty points on your provisional licence.
Can a friend who is not an instructor charge me for lessons?
No. Anyone you pay to teach you to drive must be a qualified Approved Driving Instructor or a trainee instructor. You can report someone to DVSA if they charge without being one.
How do I check an instructor is approved?
Approved instructors display a DVSA badge in the windscreen: green for a fully qualified instructor and pink for a trainee.
Can I drive straight after passing my test?
Yes. You can drive as soon as you pass, before your full licence arrives, as long as you are insured to drive on your own.
What is the new driver rule about penalty points?
If you get 6 or more penalty points within 2 years of passing, your licence is cancelled and you must reapply for a provisional licence and pass both tests again. Points from your provisional licence count too.
What is Pass Plus?
A practical course of at least 6 hours, given by a Pass Plus registered instructor, to build experience in situations such as town, rural, night, all weather, dual carriageway and motorway driving. It is most useful in your first year, and some insurers may offer a discount.
Do you offer Pass Plus?
Ask Murad on 07979 974479. Pass Plus must be given by a Pass Plus registered instructor, and the price is on request.
Do you offer motorway lessons after I pass?
Refresher lessons can include motorway driving if you want. Ask Murad about refresher lessons, priced on request.
Do you offer refresher lessons for full licence holders?
Yes. Refresher lessons are for people who have passed but want confidence back, or who are moving to an automatic car. The price is on request.
Health, eyesight and foreign licences
Do I need to tell DVLA about a medical condition?
You must tell DVLA about some medical conditions that can affect your driving. Check the GOV.UK health conditions and driving guide. You can be fined up to £1,000 for not telling DVLA about a condition that affects your driving.
Do I need to tell DVLA I wear glasses?
No. Short or long sight that glasses or lenses correct does not need reporting, but you must wear them every time you drive if you need them to meet the eyesight standard.
I have a foreign driving licence. Can I drive in the UK?
It depends on the country that issued it and how long you have lived in Great Britain. Use the GOV.UK tool for driving on a non GB licence. Some licences can be exchanged; others mean you need a provisional licence and must pass the tests.
Can I exchange my foreign licence for a UK licence?
Licences from some countries can be exchanged for a British licence, and others cannot. The GOV.UK exchange tool tells you what applies to your licence.
I have a licence from abroad and need to pass a UK test. Can you help?
Yes. Lessons can focus on UK roads, the Highway Code and what the examiner looks for. Check first on GOV.UK whether you need a test or can exchange your licence.
General answers summarise GOV.UK and DVSA guidance, checked 27 October 2026. Always check GOV.UK for the latest rules.
